The Fell Pony - Lives in the hills and mountains of Cumbria

The Fell Pony is related to the Dales Pony and inhabits the hills and mountains of Cumbria. Fell Ponies were used as pack ponies carrying lead from the mines and were also used for pulling carts and in trotting races.

They stand 13 to 14 hands. They are usually black, but bay, brown and greys can occur. They have a small head with broad forehead, sloping shoulders, muscular body, strong backs and hindquarters, with a full mane and tail. They are strong and have good stamina.
