The Tennessee Walking Horse - Very Versatile

These were developed from various breeds by New World settlers in the 18th century. The Tennessee Walking Horse was intended to be a general purpose horse but its extreme comfort made it popular in many areas. They stand up to 17 hands and are seen in many colours including palomino, cremello and black. They have chiselled heads, long, graceful and powerful necks, long sloping shoulders, broad chests, short backs, strong hindquarters and low set tails.

They are quite often docile, affectionate, intelligent, willing and easy to train, therefore making them very versatile and used in many fields including trail riding, ranch work, dressage, driving, endurance, showing, jumping, light farm work and also as police horses.
