We hope this gives you a small idea as to how each and every one of our customers has helped contribute towards the continued success of these very deserving charities.
The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust
The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust works to promote welfare amongst the regions many horses and donkeys that are used within the rural community as working animals. Through poverty and lack of knowledge these animals have often suffered terribly so the Trust’s work is vital.
Animal Friends therefore immediately arranged with suppliers Robinsons (www.robinsons-uk.com) to ship some 350 proper head collars to the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust thus giving immediate relief to 350 horses and donkeys.

World Horse Welfare Charity Information from Animal Friends Equine
World Horse Welfare - formerly known as the International League for the Protection of Horses - is a dedicated charity that gives neglected and abused horses a second chance to live a happy healthy life. They have four rehabilitation and recovery centres that are located throughout the UK. The centres are all open to the public so anyone can go there to meet some of their horses that are looking for a new home.
This charitable organisation was founded almost a century ago by Ada Cole. They help to stop the suffering of horses by rehoming, rescuing and rehabilitation. World Horse Welfare also campaigns against long distance transportation to slaughter centres in Europe. They try to educate the public on all aspects of horse welfare - including highlighting cases of abuse - in the UK and further afield.
Field officers of the World Horse Welfare respond to calls daily about horses in need. Unfortunately, there are many horses that are suffering due to neglect, cruelty or ignorance. The horse is taken to one of the four centres and will be given the treatment they need. The horse also goes through a complete rehabilitation programme.
This charity has four centres located in Somerset, Aberdeenshire, Lancashire and Norfolk. They have a Horse Loan Scheme that matches people with the right horse to meet their needs. A person fills out an application and when the right horse is found they come to the centre to meet the horse.
If you want a riding horse you will have to take a riding assessment before being able to take the horse home. A field officer will also make a trip to check out the space the horse will be staying. This is a great way to find the right horse for you and also help give a loving home to a horse in need.
Last year Animal Friends Equine was pleased to make a donation to this lovely charity in memory of our dear friend, John Davies QC, who recently passed away.
