The Royal Windsor Horse Show

You may have already seen pictures from the Royal Windsor Horse show this week, showing the Queen enjoying the proceedings as her horse, St James, managed to finish first in two events. The delight is evident in her face, replicating the joy behind the show that affects the equine community.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show is Britain’s largest outdoor equestrian show, and unlike many other equine events this year the Royal Windsor Horse shown has not shown any signs of a lack of attendance; some 2,725 entries were received for the 150 or so classes set to take place.

Taking place in the beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle, the Royal Windsor Horse Show brings together a variety of entertainment for equestrian fans, with Showing, Show Jumping and Driving competitions as well as a number of equestrian displays. There is also a plethora of shops to browse, selling boutique items as well as a large variety of equestrian equipment.

If you’re a budding equestrian enthusiast, or simply enjoy the countryside and want a nice day out, a visit to the Royal Windsor Horse Show is a worthwhile day out.
