Attacked Show-Jumping Horse gets VIP Security

We posted a story on 9th March about Squirt, the 13 year-old gelding, who had creosote smeared on his face and around his eyes.

Squirt had suffered two attacks, but the first was dismissed as an accident.  However, after the second attack, it became clear that someone was out to harm him.

Squirt was attacked at two regional horse shows, and it was thought unlikely he would qualify for the international Horse of the Year Show, but he did!

The event, which is to be held in Hastings, New Zealand, this week will see Squirt placed in a secure stall with no public access and round the clock security.

He will be sharing this high secure area with the top-level show-jumpers from Australia and New Zealand who are competing in the Olympic Cup - qualifier for the 2012 Olympic Games to be held here in the UK.

Although the police have questioned a fellow competitor about these incidents, no-one has been arrested as yet.  Squirt's owner, Kathryn Corry, said that not having a resolution had made "quite a few people uneasy".  "Obviously, there is someone around capable of such lowdown tricks".  Let's hope that they catch whoever is responsible soon.

We at Animal Friends Pet Insurance wish Squirt all the very best and hope he does well at the show, although he's already a winner in our eyes.
