Horse dies when livestock carrier overturns
Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:43
In a stark reminder of the importance of horse insurance, one equine was killed and another seriously injured after a livestock carrier travelling through Shepperdine overturned on October 30th.
The driver of the Iveco van was uninjured but, despite the efforts of local vets and emergency services at the scene, one of the beasts passed away.
Now, police are appealing for any witnesses to the event - which occurred at approximately 16:45 BST - although they are particularly keen to hear from the driver of a red sports car, which had been seen driving in the area on the afternoon in question.
Those with any information have been advised to contact Thornbury Police Station on 0845 456 7000 or place a call with Crimestoppers.
This follows reports that a horse was killed in a hit and run accident involving a driver in a flatbed white truck, with horse care experts brought in to euthanise the creature.
