A collision between a car and a rider led to a horse care emergency earlier this week.
The Bristol Evening Post reports that an eight-year-old gelding named Charlie became stuck in a ditch after being hit by a car in Iron Acton.
The accident left the young male driver with minor injuries, while the 19-year-old female rider sustained similar wounds.
However, the animal was trapped in the crevice, into which he had been thrown in the chaos.
Firefighters called to the scene managed to winch him out using specialised slings and bolt croppers.
A veterinarian assessed the creature and determined him to have hindquarter injuries caused by the impact of the motor hitting him.
Despite this, he was able to stand and was transported to a facility for treatment.
In related news, a horse died in Market Harborough this week following a road accident which left his rider injured and the driver severely so.
