Police have mad an appeal for any information involving the theft of nine saddles from a farm in Dorchester between the late hours of Monday 28th February and early hours of Tuesday 1st March 2011.
The culprits forced entry into one of the outbuildings on Stones Farm, which is in the Hilfield area.
Police Constable Vern Roberts, of Dorchester police, said: “Of the stolen saddles, one is said to be particularly rare and unusual.
“It is a 32cm extra-wide saddle, stamped with the manufacturer’s name, ‘Stubben’, and the style ‘Siegfried’. The initials ‘RC’ are also stamped on this saddle."
“Six saddles made by Albion have also been stolen. These are various sized dressage and jump saddles. One of these has marks on the pummel where it has been bitten by one of the owner's horses. This saddle is a brown ‘Albion kontact' jump saddle, measuring 17.5 cm wide."
“I would like to hear from anyone who has any information regarding this crime, and anyone who is offered a saddle for sale that may match those described, urgently."
“Finally, I would urge horse owners to be aware of these thefts and to ensure that their property is as secure and identifiable as possible.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01305 22 22 22 quoting incident number 1:51.
