Animal Friends is delighted to bring you the story of Issac, the Shetland pony stud who was stolen last week who has been returned to his owners safe and well.

The eight-year-old skewbald stallion belonging to the Abacus Shetland Pony Stud, was found a week after his theft, tethered by the side of a canal. He was found 20 miles away, with his mane hogged to change his appearance. Police believe he may have been pulled over an electric fence and through a kissing gate before being driven off.

Thankfully his owners had him micro-chipped, and he was easily recovered with the information stored in the chip once scanned.

To protect your horse properly, this story shows how important it is to keep your records up to date and micro-chip your horse, as it can help with the quick recovery of your horse should something bad happen. We’ve spoken about the importance of micro-chipping before, so read the article here and protect your horse.
