Horse insurance failure leaves woman financially stuck

An owner's failure to purchase horse insurance has left a woman and her son in a disadvantageous position.
The animal was killed after it bolted into traffic, hitting a car carrying the mother and child, according to the Weston Mercury.
Donna Richards said that while neither she nor her ten-year-old boy were seriously hurt, the car took a huge hit, bending in the middle and caving in with the force of the beast's impact.
"Because the horse was uninsured, I'm a bit stuck with regards to my insurance pay-out. It was a big shock and my son is still a bit distressed by it all ... it's all very sad," she added, noting that the creature is likely to have died instantly.
Her words may bring home the importance of purchasing such cover for riders concerned about their own four-legged friends, as well as the sense behind having equines carefully secured in their stables or paddocks, especially when these are located close to a main road.
