Police equine to retire to horse care facility

A decorated police mount is officially retiring into the safe hands of a horse care community, it has been reported.
According to the BBC, Monty - a bay shire cross gelding - will be a resident of Bristol-based Horseworld from now on.
The animal has worked with the forces for 11 years, serving with the Avon and Somerset Police on cases such as football matches, a Lord Mayor's Parade and Glastonbury music festival.
In addition, he and rider police constable Gary Young recently gave chase to a suspect escaping from a break-in at a hotel. He was later apprehended.
What's more, the officers, who claim that Monty made a "very valued contribution" to their services, are to make a donation of £600 to the charity, which was set up in 1952 as an original destination for retired and injured workings horses, such as those involved in the mining industry and on the railroads.
