Here at Animal Friends we operate a scheme where each Manager from Customer Services, Sales and Sales are able to nominate a member of their staff as 'Employee of the Month'. The recipient is awarded £1,000 to give to an animal charity of their choice.

Hello! My name is Emma, I am 22 and I have been riding from a very young age when my Mum bought me my first pony, Snowy, a grey Welsh section A whose favourite game was testing the security of my seat, burying me in to the ground on a daily basis. Despite her “complications”, I still insisted on riding her every day and eventually we started to have lots of fun off of the lead rein.

Any equine person will be eagerly awaiting the release of Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’, but there is a little while to wait as the amazing film is not due to show in the cinemas until Christmas time.

Recently two members of staff went on a trip to visit an equine rescue centre The Home Of Rest For Horses as Animal Friends had recently donated £1,000 to the rescue centre. During our visit, we were allowed to look at the equine residents currently at the home.

With the current recession, it can be an appealing prospect to loan a horse rather than purchasing outright. I have had my horse on loan for the last 3 years and is a perfect arrangement for my situation; the cost of keeping horses has risen considerably in the last few years, considering the recent hike in the cost of hay, feed and shoeing costs to name but a few.

On the 8th June 2011 myself and my colleague Charlotte were invited to visit The Horse Trust for their 125th anniversary parade and afternoon tea.
Animal Friends have an Employee of the month scheme, where a member of staff from each department gets £1,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. As a dedicated horse lover, The Horse Trust (The Home of Rest for Horses) seemed the obvious choice.
