Royal Festival of the Horse

palomino-braids.jpgThe Royal Festival of the Horse is a three day event that is held in Stoneleigh Park in Kenilworth on July 9th - 11th. This is definitely the place for the entire family to see and enjoy all things equestrian.

Each day is dedicated to one of the Olympic equestrian disciplines. You can visit on a particular day or go see all of the exciting events throughout the weekend.

On Friday it is dressage day and the World's number one dressage rider, Edward Gal, will be giving a masterclass. You will also be able to see the top UK dressage riders, which will include Laura Bechtolsheimer and Carl Hester. The riders will be competing in a fantastic freestyle dressage that is set to music.

Saturday at the Royal Festival of the Horse is show jumping day. You will be able to watch some of the best UK show jumpers, including Ben Maher, and Laura Renwick. You can watch as they compete in a 1.60m jump off competition and a thrilling speed class. People of all ages will enjoy this discipline.

Sunday, the last day of the festival is the Express Eventing. You can see the young riders compete in a thrilling cross country competition, show jumping and dressage to music. Also throughout the three day festival, recognised teachers such as Linda and Pat Parelli with host Parelli demonstrations. You can also see the Royal Show showing classes, including the Pony Club Musical Ride, National Farriery Championships and Horse of the Year show qualifiers.

The Royal Festival of the Horse is much more than just a horse show. There are plenty of other things to do including entertainers, browsing the different attractions or enjoying the fairground rides. This is a great festival to take the whole family to for a weekend of horses and fun.
