Horse Toys - How to Keep Your Horse Entertained

Like our pet cats and dogs, a horse needs adequate toys to help keep them stimulated, healthy and happy. Here at Animal Friends Equine Insurance we are all horse owners and lovers ourselves and therefore understand that horses can get bored easily; especially if they are in forced confinement in a stall or kept alone without other horses around them. Boredom is the major cause of behavioural problems and can sometimes lead to serious issues. It can cause bad habits which include chewing, cribbing, pacing or biting.

Horse toys are an excellent way for your horse to fight boredom and prevent your horse from picking up bad habits which are sometimes hard to break. They will provide your horse with safe and entertaining play either in a stall or field. They give the horse exercise and also stimulate them mentally.

Toys for your horse can come in a variety of sizes and styles. There are different sizes of balls to choose from; usually they are made of strong durable plastic and have a handle on them. The handle allows the horse to pick up the ball and toss it around. There are also toys that are designed to be mounted in a stall. One such toy allows the horse to spin wheels around and it releases the odour of apples. Another popular horse toy is a ball that can be hung in a stall or put in a field and it makes noises when the horse moves it.

There are horse toys which can be filled with treats or feed and each time the horse rolls it or moves it they get a tasty surprise. This is great for horses being kept in a stall. They will be entertained for hours and not be bored. These types of toys also come in smaller sizes that can be mounted in the stall. When the horse spins the toy, it releases treats.

There are a variety of toys available that will keep your horse happy and occupied for many hours. Horses are just like any other animal in that they like to play and be entertained. Your horse at play will also keep you entertained because it is fun to watch them enjoying themselves.
