Types of Equine Livery Services
The majority of horse owners would love to be able to keep their horses at home. However, for most of our horse insurance customers this option is not feasible. Most owners simply don't have the time, money or facilities to be able to house their horse at home. Usually equine owners will choose to rather keep their horse or horses at private or commercial livery yards.
There is a variety of levels of service offered at a livery. You can rent a stable, share grazing space or you can get total care provided for your horse. There are many advantages of using a livery. You have access to facilities such as an indoor arena or a m nage. Your horse will have companionship and you will get assistance in caring for your horse when you are not available.
A DIY livery service is when you rent grazing and a stable and all of the responsibilities of caring for your horse are done by you. A grass livery is similar to a DIY livery where you provide the care for the horse and the livery provides grazing only. An assisted livery is where you still do most of the work, but the livery staff also helps out. Some of the services the staff may provide would be bringing in and turning out your horse.
A part livery service is where the daily care and responsibility for your horse is provided by the livery. This would include feeding, turn out and mucking of the stable. You are responsible for the grooming and exercising of your horse.
A full livery is where all of the care, maintenance and exercising of the horse is taken care of by the staff at the livery. The downside to full livery service is it can be quite expensive and you may not have much opportunity to establish a really close relationship with your horse.
There is a livery service that will provide the exact requirements you and your horse need. All you have to do is some research and find the best place in your area to suit both of you.
