Horse found dead in Greater Manchester

Police are investigating the circumstances in which a 22 year old horse was found dead in a field on the 26th of October in Greater Manchester.

Two days later his field mate was found in a distressed state with a burned and ripped rug, and coupled with firework wrappers and a burnt taper found in the field, it is believed that he was frightened by the fireworks and may have suffered a heart attack. The true cause of death has not yet been confirmed, although an autopsy will follow and hopefully find out what happened.

It is suspected that there may have been some fireworks set off in the direction of the horses intentionally, or at the very least set off in close proximity to the horses. Such a thoughtless act is clearly ignoring the basic welfare of these animals, and we hope that the police can find those who committed this cruelty and make sure to bring attention to the crime of mistreating animals through these kinds of actions.
