Man charged after decapitating horse

Monday, 28 November 2011 15:41

Following the brutal decapitation of a pet horse last week, police have arrested a man after the remains of the horse and a decapitated duck were found by local walkers.

A 58 year old man has been arrested on the charges of theft and animal cruelty. Trigger the horse was discovered missing earlier this month by his owner Patricia Lister, who later found his dismembered head whilst out looking for him. Patricia bought him three years ago to replace her previous horse that went blind; she is relieved that Trigger’s remains have been found, but is still extremely distressed by what has happened.

The investigation is ongoing and police have called for any information that can be used to catch those responsible, and a cash reward has been offered up if anyone can help further the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Durham police on 03456 060365 or Crimestoppers as 0800 555111.
