Refuse Workers Save Horse's Life

Two refuse collectors in Sedgeberrow have been labelled as heroes after their quick actions helped save the life of a collapsed horse.

On Wednesday, November 16th, Jacqui Ross went to her stables to tend to her horse Phoebe. When she got there, she found that Phoebe had collapsed and was in a serious condition. Unable to help Phoebe by herself, Mrs Ross went looking for help. Fortunately the FOCSA refuse collection workers were in the area and when asked by Mrs Ross for help they leapt to action immediately.

It is believed that Phoebe collapsed due to overeating; collapse in a horse often leads to death due to a twisted gut, so the fast actions of the workers really helped save Phoebe’s life. Mrs Ross is now keeping a closer eye on how much Phoebe eats, and will be monitoring her health closely for the foreseeable future.

Both the refuse workers have been nominated for a Wychavon Award, the Sedgeberrow council’s local scheme to award those who go above and beyond the call of duty. Here at Animal Friends we’re glad that these men raced to Phoebe’s rescue and are grateful that the local council has nominated them for this award to truly reward them for their actions.
