Weekend Arson Attack Leaves Horses Dead

Tuesday, 8 November 2011 09:50

Some terrible news has come to light as it appears that an arson attack on some stables over the weekend has caused the deaths of three horses in the West Midlands over the weekend.

Two foals and a 14 month old horse died, whilst two others managed to escape before the blaze overwhelmed them; it is speculated they managed to kick their doors down before escaping. The two horses that managed to escape unfortunately have still suffered – one has gone blind and the other suffered severe smoke inhalation, and both have been put onto 24 hour watch by an emergency vet to monitor their well-being.

The attack was only discovered yesterday morning when the owners visited the stables to feed their horses. Both Mr and Mrs Thornton were devastated by the attack, stating that they were ‘heartbroken’.

Police are investigating the attack after equipment determined that the fire was started using petrol, suggesting a malicious and deliberate attack. Should anyone have any information about the incident, please call police on 0345 113 5000.
